But are Executive Health programs worth the money?
As a cardiologist who has seen thousands of patients in one of the leading executive health programs in the world, here is insider information that can help you answer the question.

Executive Health programs are attractive to patients and doctors. I enjoyed seeing highly accomplished individuals who knew the importance of good health to high performance. I found it gratifying to interact with people who were bright, engaged, and deeply interested in the details of living a long, healthy life.
And for some, an Executive Health program met their needs. These were people in excellent health, who knew how to stay there, and just wanted a thorough evaluation for unsuspected health issues.
But what if you want more than to know you don’t have cancer or need an urgent heart procedure? What if you wanted to get healthier? Or make sure you stayed healthy?
Well, then you’re probably going to be disappointed.
Where Executive Health Programs Fail
James was the patient who showed me where executive health programs often fail.
James was in his late 40’s and CEO of a major international company. And his health was a mess. He was overweight, and his blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol numbers were poorly controlled despite multiple medications.

Yet, he couldn’t make the changes he needed to improve his health.
Visit after visit, we would talk about his poor numbers and the concern for his future health.
Yet, things didn’t change.
I was frustrated I wasn’t helping James get healthier. And he didn’t understand why he was so successful in life yet couldn’t make the changes he wanted.
But then James said something that made me realize where healthcare – and executive health programs – often fail.
He said, “This is the best medical center in the world. There has to be a program that can help me get healthier.”
And I realized he was right.
Today, I appreciate how frustrating it is for people to go to an Executive Health program to improve their health. And not get healthier.
Despite the promises, the problem with Executive Health programs is that good health needs more than medical tests, medications, and procedures.
To get the best health, you also need to treat the root causes of poor health.
And Executive Health programs – and healthcare in general – don’t treat the causes – like poor nutrition, lack of physical activity, inadequate sleep, among others. Yes, you likely will see a dietitian or even an exercise physiologist and be told what you should be doing – much of what you already know.
But that isn’t what helps people change.
Now I know what does.
Over ten years ago, I became passionate about understanding what works in helping people get healthier because I know how critically important it is – people’s lives literally depend on it.
More than 2,000 people in the US are dying every day earlier than they should because they aren’t treating the root causes of poor health.
That’s a preventable death about every 40 seconds.

A proven framework to getting your health back
If you’ve struggled to get your health back – permanently get rid of unwanted weight – you’re not alone. The unfortunate truth is, getting healthier and treating the causes of the diseases that are killing us, is rare. In one study, the chances of an obese woman getting to normal weight in a year was about 0.8%. For men, it was about half that.
But here’s what you have to know. There’s a proven way to get results, to change your health, and to change your life.
I’ve learned that three factors are essential to getting your health back:
- Clarity. There are so many different opinions about getting healthier. Countless diets, exercise routines, supplements, and strategies, it’s no wonder people are confused. You first need a simple foundation to find your best plan.
- Accountability. The surest way to get results is to know someone is watching who cares about you and your goals. “Accountability is the glue that ties commitment to the result.” -Bob Proctor
- System. No complex objective is accomplished without a system. The world’s best companies – such as Google, Intel, Microsoft, and hundreds of others – all use the same simple system to get results called OKRs. We’ve learned they work in getting healthier as well.
